One of the major architectural contributions of Communism in Bucharest is the aptly named 'bloc' apartment complex. There are miles and miles of them. Today I visited one for the first time. The bathroom faucet water had a distinct brown tinge . . . I guess the pipes need updating. Today I am grateful not just for running water, but relatively clean running water. (Our water may not be brown, but we've still been advised not to drink it.)
