Heilige Abend

Christmas eve at the famed Wiener Christkindlmarkt in front of the Rathaus (city hall).

Taking in the manger scene in front of city hall. Refreshing to see overt displays of Christendom everywhere!

Only two more days of age two!

A little train ride through the Rathaus garden.

Audrey chose a baby Jesus and Ava an angel from the selection of Italian nativities.

The beautiful Burgtheater across from the Rathaus.

Daddy navigates the tired girls through another Christmas market, this one in between the natural history museums.

Ava proudly display her five euro note she found in the subway elevator. LOVE stroller friendly public transit! Wien ist meine Stadt!

Mass at Stephansdom, tourists non-stop.

Lighting candles.

And before dinner at the Hofbrau, a delightful carriage ride.

The holiday lighting is amazing . . . chandeliers, snowflakes, streamers of lights dangling above the streets . . . such a magical mood.Views from the carriage.

Frohe Weihnachten!

  1. Seeing these pictures reminded me why I love Christmas in Germany so much.

(So much so in fact that my talk on "christmas" at church was based solely on how the Germans beat the Americans on Christmas celebrations!)
