Next stop, Bucharest

Saturday was our last day in Germany. Auf wiedersehen! I think Ava's favorite part about Germany is the italian gelaterias (Eis-cafe) everywhere. "This is the best strawberry ice cream in the whole world!" So even in though she was freezing Friday night in rainy Stuttgart, Ava demanded her ice cream and let's face it, we all got some.

The nice thing about plane travel in Germany is that you don't have to take your shoes off to go through security. Fantastic! Not so nice was the seemingly endless wait on a crowded bus to take us across the tarmac and board the plane. Boy, was it ever naptime and our dear Audrey refused to participate in this travel ritual (there she was, prostrate on the ground in the middle of the path to board the bus; then came the screaming and tears as I carried her like a sack of flour on board). Our reward for this episode was a napping two year old for the entire flight.

The atmosphere on the plane was very lively . . . you could sense already that we were headed for a different culture. A very nice Romanian woman helped us with our bags and the kids (she has 5 of her own, not traveling with her). During Audrey's bus episode, she bribed Audrey into submission with pretzels and chocolate. Ah, the kindness of strangers who are mothers . . .

Please enjoy a few seconds of Audrey's crying.

And a few seconds of Chad on the Autobahn unbegrenzt (no speed limit!)
