Schloss Lichtenstein

Friday took us to another charming castle, Lichtenstein. It's been so fun watching the girls experience Germany. Audrey's got "Tchuess" down pat (Bye!) and is working on "Ich moechte nach heim!" (I want to go home!)-- she's not the fan of castle tours and shouts "Potty!" after we'ved climbed the hill to the castle where there is, naturally, no potty. Audrey and Ava, however, did enjoy the playground.

The weather has been off and on cloudy and we finally got rained on at the castle. The resulting mists gave a very mystical effect to the view of the valley below.

Could I finish this post without mentioning lunch? Something that I appreciate about Germany is the quality of "fast" food. You can go to any given little snack shack at the top of a castle or roadside rest stop and have a great, freshly made meal. Charlotte is a total convert to German cuisine. Nice. Here we had a great Schnitzel with noodles (. . . raindrops on roses . . .). Yes, that's a "Bier" in the photo, but in Germany there are a variety of malt drinks without alcohol (even more with!), including Kinderbier.
